Saundra Thomas

MA, Media Studies

Sandra has been instrumental in brokering station community-related partnerships with organizations including BRIC (Celebrate Brooklyn), World Science Festival, and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Thomas’ leadership has resulted in among other things, the WABC-TV’s commitment to holding town hall style community forums around the tri-state throughout the year.

A recent candidate for City Council and an active board member, Thomas has served as a member of Jazz Reach, Global Action Project and New York Women in Communications and is the current board chair of both Dancewave and Council for Unity. Thomas also sits on the advisory boards of The Grace Institute and Services for the Underserved.

Thomas is a recent recipient of an honorary doctorate in humane letters from St. Francis College (Brooklyn), the Council for Unity as a Champion for Children, Medgar Evers College for her work with WABC-TV on public service awareness in local communities; Thomas has also been a recipient of the Black Achievers in Industry Award from the Harlem YMCA and recently the McDonald’s Legacy in Media Award.
