MA Media Studies 2014

Jessica was named one of 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine and a DOC NYC 40 Under 40. Her documentary feature Ascension登楼叹 premiered Tribeca 2021 Film Festival, winning Best Documentary Feature and The Albert Maysles Award for Best New Documentary Director. Her award-winning short “Commodity City” (2017) shot in Yiwu, China was shortlisted for a Cinema Eye Honor and played at over 50 film festivals. Her work has received support from organizations including SFFilm, Chicken & Egg, Cinereach, Sundance, Field of Vision, Firelight Media, Film Independent, and IFP.  She co-directed “It’s Coming!” (2020) which is supported by Rooftop Films and is a Vimeo Staff Pick, and “Routine Island” (2019) included in the Eyeslicer Season 2. Residencies and labs include the Points North Institute, the Artist Academy at the New York Film Festival, UnionDocs. Producer credits include “In The Cards” (dir. Colin Kane Healy, Tribeca 2021), “Born To Be” (dir. Tania Cypriano, NYFF 2019,)“The Waterslide” (dir. Nathan Truesdell, True/False in 2018), “Old Stone” (dir. Johnny Ma, Berlinale 2016).

The MA in Media Studies gives students experience in creative media making, critical analysis, and entrepreneurialism. The Media Management MS offers the practical experience you need to succeed in today's media industries. The Documentary Studies Certificate program provides an opportunity to study documentary filmmaking in a small, tightly focused program. The Media Management Certificate Program provides a strong foundation of management principles and leadership skills to find work in the ever-changing global media landscape.
