]]> The 45th FINE CUTS annual film screening and awards will happen on Friday May 22, 2024 from 5-9pm. We are extremely proud of the 2024 FINE CUTS film program. The 8 winning films were selected by 26 film committee members, including filmmakers, festival programs, film professionals, faculty, and alumni.
FINE CUTS May 10, 2024, 5-9pm (66 West 12th Street Auditorium). 

FINE CUTS Run of Show: May 22, 2024

  1. 5pm: doors open.

  2. 5:30-5:45pm: Greetings and introductions.

  3. 5:45-7pm: Screening (75min).

  4. 7-7:30pm: Q&A with filmmakers.

  5. 7:30-10pm: Reception & mixer at the Lang cafeteria.

Since the global pandemic hit, many have called these times “unprecedented.” Perhaps it is not so much our time that is unprecedented as the need for media forms to arise in response to ongoing crises. From all over the globe, with only the resources they have on hand, in solitude and in solidarity with each other, our students and faculty persist in making meaning of and with our world as it shape-shifts, as a way of re-shaping our world.

“This semester has been an extremely challenging time for all our students and faculty. In spite of that, however, they were determined to continue their work, and to present some of the best creative interactive, experimental, and multi-platform projects, this time in an online environment. This work is testimony to our students’ ingenuity and resourcefulness, and to our faculty’s continuous commitment to teaching and mentoring. Even in these trying times, we strive to continue our mission to be at the forefront of new media trends, as well as critical thinking and analysis, showcasing a rich context of imagination, innovation, and social commentary.”
