]]> On opening night of the 10th Annual Imagine Science Film Festival in New York, 6 filmmakers and 6 scientists were randomly paired and sent off into the city to begin filmmaking. The only prompt offered to each pair was to focus their film on the theme: HYBRID-IDENTITY. Each film was created over the course of October 13-20. School of Media Studies’ Macha Rose was one of the filmmakers chosen for the festival. Rose, masters degree candidate at The New School for Media Studies, was paired with Joel Simon, a Rockefeller University professor involved in bioinformatics. Together they created and debuted their short film “Figuration”. Also involved in the film’s production are New School’s Rose Ozkan (director of photography), David Clarke (editor) and New School alum Rick Hamilton (sound recordist).
